You’ve Got a Friend in Me

Our workshop starts with our facilitator talking to your class about how they can be good friends to each other. Our facilitator takes the children’s ideas and suggestions to create a list of behaviours that demonstrate good friendship.

The second part of this workshop includes a puppet show delivered by our facilitator. All of our facilitators are performing arts trained with teaching experience. They will present a simple hand puppet show to your class and using different voices for each of the characters in the story tell a tale about a friendship fall out and how this gets resolved. Your class will have the opportunity to decide what some of the characters should do and this links back to the class discussion about friendship.

At the end of the puppet show our facilitator will split your class into groups and help each group create a “freeze frame” from different parts of the friendship puppet show story. This is a simple drama exercise that re-enforces the friendship message of this workshop.

After the workshop our facilitator will give you access to post workshop lesson plans that you can use in your own time with your class to further develop their thoughts about friendship and to remind them how to be good friends to each other.
